Things you must do

  1. Hang out in the Empire Mall - the biggest mall between Minneapolis and Denver apparently.
  2. See the actual Sioux River falls
  3. Go to the Indian Reservation in Minnehaha county near Flandreau and fail to find any native Americans whatsoever. BUT you can see the cemetery and the county hall and the school.
  4. Go over the Big Sioux river and the small Sioux river.
  5. Eat. Steaks are big in Sioux Falls.
  6. Drive around - go to Iowa or Minnesota - they are barely an hour away.

I'm sure I've missed much - sorry but I was working :-)

Restaurants

  • Timber Lodge Steakhouse, 3509 W. 41st Street, SD 57106 (T:+1 605 361 8899). Good steak restaurant and that's about it. (July 00)
  • Minervas, 301 South Phillips (Downtown), Sioux Falls, SD (T: +1 605 334 0386; F: +1 605 334 9585). This is the main fancy restaurant in town. It's very pleasant and the food is excellent. Paul Foley is the General Manager.  (July 00)cool.gif (111 bytes)
  • TGI Fridays, 4300 Empire Place, Sioux Falls SD 57106-6255 (T:+1 605 361 6684). This is the restaurant of our hotel, its a standard TGI with good steaks and good service. (July 00)
  • Teas Steakhouse, Tea. We didn't actually get to go there but I understand it serves fantastic steaks. I've also been warned that it has woodchips on the floor though that sounds like it would give it a bit of character. :-) (July 00)
